The robo-calls selling auto warranties seem to (for the most part) have died down a bit. Either they are dialing less or my phone is smarter about filtering those calls out…

 

At any rate, warranties are important when shopping around for a home solar power system. 

 

The electrical and electronic components in a home solar power system are complex and can be expensive to replace (especially the inverters), so for many homeowners the warranty becomes a high priority.

 

While warranties on the actual components are important, they are not the only warranties we should consider…

 

What warranty on the actual construction does the installer offer?

 

I mean, it is great that the solar panel has decades long warranties but what happens if the installer fails to properly wire the panels up and at some point down the road causes a failure?

 

Ok, maybe the warranty of the component might get you a new component- but what about getting the wiring connections fixed?

 

Make sure you understand all the warranties (and guarantees, if any such as no-roof-leak, etc.) when comparing solar bids so that the entire warranty picture is clear before you make a decision.
