Best Solar Companies In Tucson

Best Solar Companies in Tucson for 2023

If you've been looking for the "Best Solar Companies in Tucson" online, I am sure you are probably pretty tired of the lead generation cookie cutter type of 'lists' that are obviously either affiliate or lead generation websites. Have you noticed when you arrive at nearly every list/website that many of the same national companies are mysteriously all ranked at the top? Wonder why? Hint- they pay for the leads generated by these Best Solar Companies list or review type websites.

Rarely, if ever, will you see a local Tucson owned and operated website ranked of the front page of the search engines- let's see if we can change that by doing a review of all the review sites that rank for Best Solar Companies in Tucson and see what we come up with. In this little experiment, I am going to use two of the top search engines and the search phrase "find articles about best solar companies in tucson" (that allows you to try it for the phrase 'best solar companies in tucson' to see the differences- and there are some, so after reading this check it out).

For the results and following discussion, I will run straight down from the top of the page regardless of the entry being sponsored or not. I will indicate if it was sponsored and provide a bit of a discussion for what type of website it is and what it is generally trying to accomplish. It is important to remember that these rankings often come as a result of many signals that are tracked by the search engines to include the amount links from other websites pointing to that page (or to the domain at large, even if not to that specific page). For this reason, there are some review websites that typically rank at the top of every local search- and we will certainly see them here.

Finding articles about Best Solar Companies in Tucson on Google

1. Sponsored- Bestcompany dot com. This is at the top, and is a pure and unadulterated lead generation website trying to get solar energy leads. Right off the bat it asks you to enter your zipcode in a pop-up before you can see their list of top recommened solar companies. A quick glance shows no Tucson solar companies

2. Places- this is the local search feature where a map pops up and shows three companies listed along with pins on the map for their location. Awesome in that all three companies listed in the 'Places' listing are local Tucson solar power installation companies. While there are three here, I will count this as one entry.

3. Organic- Ecowatch dot com. The first non-sponsored or special feature entry, we could almost say this is the number one ranking website for the phrase when we search from Tucson Arizona (results might differ if we search from different areas). The website is more or less an effort to focus on the broader subject of environmental news and seems like a professional effort, but... the Best solar companies in Tucson list doesn't inclued even one locally owne and operated Tucson solar power operation. It is pure lead gen or affiliate links. This is the Ecowatch website that has the Ecowatch Rating and provides a lot of environmental advantages of solar panels  and associated equipment installation.

4. "Organic"- Yelp dot com. I say "organic" because the listing doesn't show that it is sponsored but this website shows up on the first page of results for every local search I can ever remember making. Regardless of how I feel about the website, the page it presents is pretty good for finding actual solar companies in Tucson Arizona and they also show a map of Tucson with pins to show where each of the solar companies are at.

5. "Organic"- Angie's List. Again, I say "organic' because there is no 'sponsored' tag on it but it seems dubious to me that this website seems to rank for nearly every local search you can do now. This is a lead gen site. Right off the bat it tries to get you to enter your zip code so they can help you "get matches with top solar companies in Tucson, AZ" and that "There are 15 highly-rated local solar panel companies.". I will give them some credit though, if you do a good bit of scrolling down the page they do have a few actual local companies listed. But... if you didn't know, generally businesses pay this website to get listed on it (not that paid advertising is bad, but this pretends to be a 'best of' list, not an advertisement for a solar company in tucson arizona)

6. Organic- Solar Reviews dot com. In my opinion, a fairly well put together website that has a lot of good information for learning about solar. Beyond that though, this is a lead gen site that has some actual local tucson solar equipment installer companies mixed in with national solar companies. An interesting thing I noted was they have a 'solarreviews expert rating' that highlights some companies but not others- the interesting part was that none of the three local solar companies from the 'places' feature were rated. Seems like this special rating mimics the ecowatch rating service- Hmm... makes me wonder.

7. Organic- This Old House dot com. Commercial lead gen or affiliate webpage written by the "This Old House Reviews Team". They have a big listing of how they rate the companies but when you click on any link it takes you to an internal data capture sequence that starts by asking for your zipcode like every other solar company lead gen service out there.

8. Organic- Energy Sage dot com. Has a "5 Best solar companies in Tucson, AZ) article (2023 ranking) that says was updated in January 2023. The website does seem to list companies solar equipment installer options that are actually in Tucson Arizona and doesn't look like a lead gen website. There is also some info about solar energy and Tucson, Arizona Solar Stats.

9. Organic- House Method dot com. Welcome to the Solar Lead Gen Thunder Dome. This fantastic beauty of a Solar Engery Company LEAD GENERATION website had so many beautiful links to local  and national solar power companies. Not one link I clicked on failed to take me anywhere but to a lead capture page starting with entering your zipcode. I have no idea if a local service company would be on the other side... I am just impressed at the singular purpose of every link I clicked took me to a page that asked for my zipcode.

10. Organic- Bob Vila dot com. A modern day website version of the mullet. All solar energry company lead gen at the top and an actual local Tucson or Arizona company or two at the bottom. This is a fairly well executed nationwide site that baits just enough info about solar power panels, installation, and related options while preserving the prime web property for their 'partners'.

11. Organic- Forbes dot com. A powerhouse 'news' company that blatantly tells you the entire article is filled with links that gives them a commission. The 'article' named "The Best Solar Panel Installation Companies in Arizona 2023" was written by a contributor and "fact checked" by an editor. We're in the tall grass with this one, for sure. The first solar power company listed is SUNPOWER and every link after that takes you to that website- because, why? LEAD GEN. At least they come right out and say it right beneath the headline, gotta give them credit for that.

12. Sponsored- Top Solar Companies dot com. Cookie cutter solar energy lead generation company. Must enter zipcode to move forward, I couldn't see a single local solar panel equipment installer service behind the pop up asking for my zipcode. Wonder if they try that ecowatch rating type thing or if they claim the companies are screened. It is a paid ad though, so props on them skipping to the data collection.

13. Sponsored- Best Company dot com. Pure lead gen company website. A contender wtih the other solar lead gen companies in the sponsored category.

The search results page grows longer the more you scroll down. My eyes glazed over trying to count the entries but it seemed about 78 results for my search were listed before the page stopped. The bottom approximately 25-30 or so entries were not related to solar, solar panels, installer rating, or even Tucson or Arizona. Out of the approximate 50 or so, it seemed like maybe half or more were sponsored solar lead generation company entries.

Finding articles about Best Solar Companies in Tucson on Bing

Results were nearly the same. Some of the companies changed, but solar lead gen websites were dominating the game. Bing does have a nice local map and did list some actual local Tucson Arizona solar equipment installer and service companies.

Rather than bore you wtih a listing of each entry, I thought I'd change it up a little and share some of my favorite headlines.

The top three entires were all ads and I kind of liked their headlines:

Top Solar Companies Arizona | Arizona Solar Cost by Address - an ecowatch website.

Solar Ratings & Reviews | Top 5 Best Solar Companies - a not seen on google company energy bill cruncher dot com.

Top Solar In Tucson | Top 5 Solar Companies - our friend best company.

After the local map listing of actual Tucson Arizona solar companies the rest of the entries looked a lot like the other results. There were a few new entries from angie list competitors like expertise and thumbtack- very clearly lead gen outfits.

My analysis- Tucson, Arizona Solar Stats for web searching

It is all pretty much lead generation outfits except for the local search results that have the map. The rest of it is either solar energy company advertisements or blatant lead generation outfits. I started Tucson Solar Insider because I have a love for solar energy, Tucson Arizona, and the environment but I found that, like this little 'study' shows, the solar sales industry needs to do a better job helping people in Tucson with their solar energy needs.
