America's Top 7 Reasons for Installing Solar
2022 was a record year for the installation of residential solar in America. Nearly three times as much as commercial solar.
Industry experts project significant growth in the rate of acceptance of residential solar and expect that growth to continue through 2030.
An article in late 2022 detailed the results of a survey that was performed in response to these rising numbers and the findings were interesting.
The article:
“Americans will install a record 5.6 GW of residential solar in 2022 – here’s why“
https://electrek.co/2022/08/29/american-residential-solar/
According to the article, Americans installed solar for the following reasons:
- To benefit the environment (60%)
- Energy Security (54%)
- To reduce energy bill (52%)
- To reduce energy reliance (49%)
- Tax credit/rebates (37%)
- To shade their roof (29%)
- To be off-grid (28%)
Now, anyone who has read more than just one of my emails knows I am much more into the energy security and reducing energy reliance issues (maybe more leaning to off-grid) than I am into benefits of the environment, but I do really like the idea of my plug in hybrid running on electric 90% of the time because I don’t like SMOG.
One thing that took me by surprise was the shading the roof thing. I’ve never found myself sitting around trying to figure out how to cast shade of my roof- but I guess I can see people do plant trees in an effort to shade their home…
At the end of the day, we all have our own reasons. Which of the above reasons interest you?
If you are considering rooftop solar for your home or business, I figure you’d probably be pretty interested in my upcoming book- Tucson Solar Insider Desk Guide for Buying Solar. If so, click here to get notified when it is released.
