"began getting lien notices"

A cautionary tale emerges from the Valley…

A 12News article/report came across my feed the other day, and it reminded my why I started Tucson Solar Insider and why I am writing the Desk Guide for Buying Solar…

Up in Phoenix was a guy who was running what now seems to be possibly a scam from the beginning but very well may have been simply gross incompetence.

Either way, this ‘contractor’ was able to put up enough of a legitimate front that he got many jobs across the greater Phoenix area. Many of which, allegedly, were abandoned shortly after monies were paid.

One victim found out there was a problem when they “began getting lien notices”. Not fun.

Seems this contractor was prolific, and might have ‘stung’ many people. The story was reported on originally and that caused, according to this report, many additional victims to come forward.

The article/report:

I share these stories because we all need to be aware that this sort of stuff does happen. While I am not sure if this was an intentional scam from the start or if the operator got in over their head (business is hard, it might be poor execution as opposed to malicious intent)

Regardless of intent, malicious or incompetence- it doesn’t matter…

We need to be aware and look for signs and indications about ANY contractor we engage to do work- solar, home improvement, construction, electrical, plumbing, and on and on.

There were some very sophisticated businesses that were scammed by this contractor. If a multi-million dollar general contractor who builds fast food buildings can get scammed- anyone can.

The best thing we can do is educate ourselves and try our best to check into the status of the contractors we hire…

That’s what the Desk Guide for Buying Solar is meant to do, so if you’re looking into solar for your home, click here to get notified when I release the book.

Be Good!
